The Makeup Show LA 2012 Wrap-Up
Last weekend, The Makeup Show LA welcomed over 4,500 attendees through it’s doors. With over 60 exhibitors offering fantastic discounts, and keynotes from some of the industry’s top makeup artists, the show was a must-see for beauty professionals. I attended on Sunday, saw some friends, watched a few of the speakers and spent way too much money.
While all of the Keynote Speakers I saw were inspiring, my favorite talk of the day was Troy Jensen. He spoke so candidly about the industry and offered amazing advice for artists of all levels. I loved his realness when answering questions, nothing was sugar coated. His body of work is beyond inspiring, and watching him speak made me an even bigger fan.

Per usual, I went a little crazy on the exhibit floor. I picked up some Inglot eyeshadows to see what the hype is about. I also got new Lip Tars from OCC, some goodies from Kevyn Aucoin (who were offering amazing discounts), a few bottles of Joanna Schlip’s Red Carpet Kolour and some brushes from Bdellium Tools.

My favorite purchase of the whole show is my first Hakuhodo brush!! The price tag of these beauties has always been a deterrent but this year I decided to avoid the Crown Brush booth all together and invest in better quality. I’m already in love, it’s so soft!! It’s only going to be touching very special faces haha.
I was super excited to get a free Minx manicure compliments of Marinello Beauty Schools! I’ve been wanting to try Minx for awhile.

4 Reasons to Check out The Makeup Show LA this Weekend
It’s that time of year again… The Makeup Show is back in LA and it’s bigger than ever! Check out some of the must see’s at this year’s show:
1. Inspiring Keynote Speakers
One of the best aspects of The Makeup Show is the education. Not only is it free with admission, but where else can you watch, absorb info and be inspired by the industry’s top artists all in the same place? This year, the Keynote Speakers will be Mario Dedivanovic (Kim Kardashian, Michelle Williams), Troy Jensen(Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, Gwyneth Paltrow), Sutan Amrull (America’s Next Top Model, Adam Lambert), Sharon Gault (David LaChapelle, Lady Gaga), Bill Corso (The Shining, X-Men, Indiana Jones) Jinny Houele (Cirque De Soliel) and Maurice Stein (Golden Girls, Planet of the Apes). These artists will be sharing insight and info that new and seasoned artists can benefit from.
2. Jump on OCC’s New Lip Tar Packaging
I am so excited about Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetic’s revamped lip tar packaging! No more messy spills inside your kit, AND the new tubes offer 25% more product. Get there early since the OCC booth is usually only of the busiest at the show.

3. The Professional Resource Area
A really cool feature at this year’s show is Crystal Wright’s Pro Resource Area. All day Saturday and Sunday, Crystal’s Pro Pods will feature agents from Cloutier Remixx, Producers, Bloggers and Makeup Artists. Attendees will be able bring their business materials for review (at a first come, first serve basis). On Saturday after the Industry Expert Panel, the experts will be staying after to do portfolio reviews (5-6pm). What a great opportunity to meet and network with people who are actually in a position to hire you.
4. Top Industry Brands.. at Amazing Prices.
With over 70 exhibitors, the show floor is a makeup lover’s paradise. Kevyn Aucoin, OCC, Inglot, Makeup Forever, Embroylisse, Hakahudo and Senna are among the brands that will be selling products at the show. Most booths are offering discounts or show specials, and many are even launching new products for the first time, at the show!

Massive Eve Pearl Sale on Hautelook
Eve Pearl is selling all of her products in a huge Hautelook sale today! This one is definitely work checking out, as prices have been slashed to almost 50% off. Of course, her famous Salmon Concealer is for sale, so if you don’t have it yet, now is the time to finally see what all of hype is about.

Check it out HERE
**Hautelook is a website that hosts private, online sales. It’s similar to GiltGroup. You have to register to see/buy from the sale, but I have bought from them in the past and they are totally legit. Past beauty sales have included Urban Decay, Laura Mercier, CoverFX etc..
Chanel Fall 2012
At the Chanel show, makeup artists gave models the cleanest, freshest skin imaginable, with a hint of contour on the hollows of their cheeks. The nude skin allowed eyes to focus immediately on the focal point of the look, the jeweled eyebrows. These handmade brows were created with crystals and minerals, and retail at 400 euro a pair!
