Spring/Summer 2011
Hot Makeup Alert: Milan Fashion Week 2011 GUCCI
Makeup artists behind the scenes at Gucci, during Milan Fashion Week earlier last week, created some of the most gorgeous makeup I’ve seen at the shows this season!! The skin is glowing, the eyes pop and the lips are to die for. I’ve been staring at these pictures for days and thought I’d share
..
Key Makeup Artist: Pat McGrath

J Mendel

Key makeup artist, Bobbi Brown, created the look for the J Mendel runway show. Clean, flawless skin and lots of mascara, topped off with bright orange lips!
Isaac Mizrahi

I love the raspberry pinkish-red glossy lips at Issac Mizrahi earlier today. The color is gorgeous! Makeup artists gave the skin luminous and healthy finish while keeping the eyebrows natural. A touch of black liner was applied to the upper lashline, along with several coats of mascara.
Davidelfin

I love the look at Davidelfin! The focus was obviously placed on the eyes, as makeup artists applied black eyeshadow to the model’s eyelids. Heavy, black liner was applied to both upper and lower lashlines, and smudged out along the bottom. The skin was made matte and the lips were erased.
Calvin Klein

Fresh, chic and completely wearable describes the makeup at Calvin Klein Spring 2011 show today! The eyes were given definition by adding a thin line of black eyeliner on the upper lashline, along with tons of mascara. Soft pink blush was applied to the apples of the cheeks, and a pretty pink lip finished off the look.
L.A.M.B

The models walking in the L.A.M.B show probably wore more makeup than all of the other shows this season combined! Golden yellow eyeshadow was applied to the eyelid, and a coppery bronze was blended above it, through the crease and outward past the natural eye folds. Black eyeliner was applied to the lower lashline, and also extended out past the eye in a cat-eye type fashion. The cheeks were contoured with a peach blush and the lips were either painted a deep red, or glossy pink.
Oscar de la Renta

I am usually not the biggest fan of blue eyeshadow, but I love how classy it looked today at Oscar de la Renta! The deep, smokey blue applied and blended out along the upper eyelid is beautiful! Cheeks were given a hint of peach blush, and lips were kept very nude.
NYFW Spring 2011 Day 7
New York Fashion Week Spring 2011 Day 7
Nanette Lepore

Models walking in the Nanette Lepore runway were given shimmery bronze eyeshadow, that slightly extended out past the eye. The cheeks were contoured, brows were kept natural, and lips were coated with a raspberry, pinkish red gloss.
Key Makeup Artist:
James Kaliardos for MAC
Anna Sui

The natural, boho theme of Anna Sui’s runway influenced the neutral peach and brown color palette used in the makeup look created by Pat McGrath. The cheeks were made to look flushed with a pretty peach blush, and the lips were kept natural looking, with a hint of peach balm. Brown shadow was blended onto the eyelid, and gold glitter was applied to the inner V of the eye.
Key Makeup Artist: Pat McGrath for Covergirl
Douglas Hannant

The look at Douglas Hannant revolved around the blue eyeshadow applied to the outer V of the model’s eyes. The color also made it’s way underneath the eye, and along the outer, lower lashline. White eyeshadow was applied to the inner corners of the eyes, and a soft coral lipstick was applied to the lips.
Gottex

A sexy, matte brown, slightly smokey eye was applied to the model’s walking in the Gottex runway yesteday. Eyelashes were defined with several coats of mascara, and a glossy, coral lip finished off the look.
Jeremy Scott

The look seen yesterday at the Jeremy Scott show was reminiscent of a cracked out, Marilyn Monroe. Black, liquid liner was applied in a think line, which extended out into a winged, cat-eye. The liner was also applied to the inner V of the eye. New eyebrows were drawn on to look thin, and sparse; and the models were all given a trademark, Marilyn mole. Last but not least, lips were made a perfectly crisp, orange-red.
Michael Kors

I love that the cheeks are the focal point of the makeup on Michael Kor’s Spring 2011 runway! A peachy pink blush was applied to the model’s cheeks, and nose, making them look like they’ve spent the past several hours in the sun. The eyes were slightly defined with a neutral brown, and lips were kept nude and natural.
Key Makeup Artist: Dick Page for Shiseido
Milly by Michelle Smith

Even more orange lips were spotted on the Milly by Michelle Smith’s runway! The bright orange, velvety lips, along with flushed, peach cheeks made up the majority of this look. Eyes were kept pretty clean, except for several coats of mascara for definition.
Key Makeup Artist: Romy Soleimani for MAC
NYFW Spring 2011 Day 6
Badgley Mischka

Models walking in the Badgley Mischka show were given silver metallic eyes, and MAC’s soon to be released, So Vain Kissable lipcolor, was used on the lips. This color has been quite popular this season, appearing in shows such as Peter Som, Ruffian and Editions by Georges Chakra! Makeup artists also applied this season’s popular, “C” shaped blush from the model’s temples and to their cheeks.
Key Makeup Artist: Tom Pecheux for MAC
Vera Wang

Clean and natural makeup was the choice for Vera Wang’s Spring 2011 show. The eyebrows were the focus of the look as they were filled in to look very full and straight. A pearly white shadow was applied to the upper eyelids for some sheen, and the lips were made a very nude beige.
Key Makeup Artist: Lucia Pieroni for Cle de Peau
Rosa Cha

Model’s walking in the Rosa Cha show were given a very colorful eye, while the rest of the face was simply evened out with foundation. Bright, sky blue eyeliner was applied to the inner V of the eye and orange eyeshadow was blended out to the hairline.
Rodarte

Rodarte’s makeup color palette did not stray from gold! White eyeliner was applied to the inner rim of the eye, while lips, eyelashes and eyeshadow were all coated in pure gold.
Rachel Roy

At the Rachel Roy presentation, models were given super thick, black eyeliner and tons of mascara. The skin was made very shimmery and glowy and the lips were kept nude.

I love the glossy skin at the Herve Leger show! The skin was evened out, a touch of blush was applied, and that’s about it! Minimal, yet very chic.
Key Makeup Artist: Lisa Butler for Temptu
Dennis Basso

I love the brightly colored lids at Dennis Basso! Model’s were given either orange or blue liner, extended out into a cat-eye shape. Black liner was applied to the lower lashline along with several coats of mascara. The lips were made a glossy nude.
Toni Francesc

The look at Toni Francec was all about the eyes! Bright, canary yellow shadow was applied to the inner corner of the eye and onto the browbone. Silvery grey and black shadows were applied to the outer corners of the eye. Eyelashes were heavily coated with black mascara, while the cheeks and lips were made a healthy shade of peach.
Narciso Rodriguez

Similar to the look at Carolina Herrera, model’s walking the Narciso Rodriguez runway were given coral red eyeshadow on their eyelids as well along their lower lashline. A natural blush was lightly applied to the cheeks and lips were made a soft, pink nude.
Key Makeup Artist: Dick Page
Marc By Marc Jacobs

Orange is definitely the go-to color of the season! More orange lips were spotted at Marc by Marc Jacobs and these ones are bright! Black eyeliner was smudged to the upper lashline and the lids were given a glossy, wet finish to counteract the matte lip.
Key Makeup Artist: Dick Page for Shiseido
NYFW Spring 2011 Day 5
New York Fashion Week Spring 2011 Day 5
Donna Karan

Donna Karan’s Spring 2011 collection was comprised of only neutral colors so the coppery golden eye that makeup artist, Charlotte Tilbury created complimented the clothing perfectly. The inner corners of the eye were highlighted with a yellowish gold, the skin was given a glossy, wet look, and the lips were erased.
Key Makeup Artist: Charlotte Tilbury for MAC
Alexandre Herchcovitch

I love the brightly colored lips at the Alexandre Herchcovitch show! Obviously, the look revolved around the lime green, turquoise, apricot, pink and blue lips, so the rest of the face was kept clean. A few coats of mascara on the eyelashes, and model’s were ready to walk.
Key Makeup Artist: Gordon Espinet for MAC
Halston

The 70′s inspired makeup worn by the models in Halston’s presentation was gorgeous!! One of my favorites of the day. A natural peachy-pink blush, along with a lot of contour, was applied to the models cheeks. Heavily coated top and bottom eyelashes were the focal point of the look while lips were dabbed with a little bit of concealer for a very nude, barely there look.
Key Makeup Artist: Petro Petrohilos for MAC
Betsey Johnson

Bright, fun and colorful faces took over Betsey Johnson’s runway yesterday! While the look is perfect for a Betsey Johnson show, it’s pretty much my worst nightmare haha. Lime green shadow was applied from lashline to brow, cheeks were swirled with a bright pink blush and hot pink lipstick finished off the look.
Key Makeup Artist: Sarah Lucero for Stila
Carlos Miele

A glamorous, yet simple, bronzed look was seen on the Carlos Miele runway yesterday. The model’s lids were swept with bronze eyeshadow, while black liner was applied to the top lashline, starting thin on the inner corner and getting thicker as it traveled to the outer corner of the eye. The faces were slightly bronzed, and a velvety soft pink lipstick was applied to the lips.
Key Makeup Artist: Charlotte Willer for Maybelline
Carolina Herrera

To compliment the Asian inspired collection at Carolina Herrera, makeup artists applied a soft red shadow to the model’s eyelids. The shadow was blended and extended out past the model’s eye, and several coats of mascara were applied for definition. On the cheeks, a light peach blush, and the lips were coated with a shimmery nude gloss.

NYFW Spring 2011 Day 4
New York Fashion Week Spring 2011 Day 4
Derek Lam

I’m in love with the red eyeliner at Derek Lam!! Tom Pecheux and his team applied a thick line of red eyeliner (which actually looks like red lipliner based off of pictures) to the upper lashlines on each of the models. The rest of the face was kept nude.
Key Makeup Artist: Tom Pecheux for Estee Lauder
Lela Rose

Even more orange lips were spotted at the Lela Rose show! This time, they were perfectly matte, no gloss or sheen at all. The eyes were given a bit of definition with mascara and brows were kept natural and full. The textured, messy side braid by Ted Gibson is beyond amazing. I think I love it more than the lips!!

The models in Victoria Beckham’s presentation were given unexpected, bright purple eyelids! The color was applied in an oval shape from lashline, all the way up to the eyebrow. Black eyeliner was used to rim the eyes and add extra drama. Lips were topped off with a glossy beige.
Key Makeup Artist: Charlotte Tilbury
Altuzarra

The models walking in the Altuzarra show yesterday were given unique swipes of brightly colored hair gel on the sides of their head. Makeup was kept simple with a very bare face, and super heavy contouring on the cheekbones and temples.
Key Makeup Artist: Tom Pecheux for MAC
Diane Von Furstenburg

The bright, matte rose colored lips at DVF are stunning!! ! To finish off the look, makeup artists simply evened out the skin and added a touch of pearly highlight on the inner corners of the eye.
Key Makeup Artist: James Kaliardos
DKNY

Simple and fresh with a slight touch of unexpected, explains the look at DKNY. The model’s cheeks were swirled with a light pink blush, and a natural pink lip balm was applied to the lips. For a fun twist, makeup artists placed a dot of silver glitter on the center of each model’s eyelid. The glitter is barely noticeable, but when it catches the light, it makes you do a double take.

New York Fashion Week Day 3
Yesterday I asked for lips and my wish was definitely granted!! Check out the puckers from today’s shows
Cynthia Rowley

Bright orangey red lips and heavily mascaraed bottom lashes were the focus of the makeup at Cynthia Rowley’s show earlier today! If you look closely at the lips, the color fades outward, which I love! Aside from the lower lashes, the rest of the eye was clean and pink blush was applied to the cheeks.
Key Makeup Artist: Val Garland for MAC
Jill Stuart

Love, love, love these glossy orange lips! I’m so glad that last year’s orange lip trend (here) is continuing on into Spring 2011. The wet skin look is also completely amazing.

Prabal Gurung

The look at Prabal Gurung was very futuristic. White shimmery eyeshadow was applied to the eyelid and softly blended up to the brow. No mascara or eyeliner. The face was made very matte except for a white, frosty highlight on the cheekbones. Lastly, a very light, frosty lipstick was applied to the lips.
Key Makeup Artist: Tom Pecheux for MAC
Z Spoke by Zac Posen

After all the nude faces we’ve seen this season, Zac Posen’s models are colorful enough to make you forget they even happened! Many of the models were given very different looks, from colorful cat eyes, to vivid shadows extended to the hairline, to neon lips!
Key Makeup Artist: Charlotte Willer for Maybelline
Charlotte Ronson

The look at Charlotte Ronson reminds me of the term I came up with yesterday, “dirty clean.” The faces look clean, there’s just something a little dirtier and edgier about them. A rosy lip and eyeshadow compliment the dewy skin beautifully. I really like this look, a lot.
Key Makeup Artist: Gilbert Soliz for Sephora
Alexander Wang

I know that I’ve said the word “clean” about 300 times in the past three days, but Alexander Wang’s models are the epitome of the word! They are literally not wearing any makeup at all. Just moisturizer!! Would be nice to be the makeup artists at this show!

I’m a sucker for a totally clean face with a bright pop of color, so obviously the look at the Peter Som show won me over at first sight ! Love, love, love the bright yellow, thick eyeliner swiped across the model’s upper lashlines.
Key Makeup Artist: Tom Pecheux

The focal point of the makeup in the Edition by Georges Chakra show was definitely the cheeks! Loving the looks so far but where are the lips???? Nude is definitely the color of the season.

Ps.. Look at how hot the nails are!!
Key Makeup Artist: James Kaliardos for MAC
Nicholas K

Models walking in the Nicholas K show were seen rockin’ khaki eyeshadow blended all the way up to their brows. The eye was smokey and dramatic but still surprisingly soft. Is it just me, or do the models look like they are wearing yellow blush? I hope so!!
I’m also really loving the fishtail, side braid!
Key Makeup Artist: Lyne Desnoyers for MAC
Christian Siriano

OMG I love this look. A lot.

Richie Rich

Several seasons ago, Pam Anderson walked the runway at Richie Rich’s Fashion Week display.. This year, the designer chose Ellen Degeneres to close the show! Fortunately (and unfortunately), Ellen opted against the blue hooker eyeshadow and smeared lipstick the other models had to wear. Extreme, colorful and fun, what else can you expect from Richie Rich?
