Golden Globes Beauty Round-up
A Look Into the Makeup At the Globes
Courtney Cox looked amazing last night at the Golden Globes! Her makeup artist, Genevieve, gave the Cougar Town actress a grey and black smoky eye paired with nude lips. She used Lancome’s Color Design Lip Color in “Pale Lip” to create Courtney’s neutral pout. Can you believe she’s 45??
Kate Hudson never needs much makeup in order to look gorgeous! For this look, her makeup artist, Leslie Lopez, kept the eyes and lips very clean which looked amazing against her white Marchesa gown. Her waterline is rimmed with black pencil and her frosty peach lips are Chanel’s Aqualumiere Sheer Lipcolor in Malta.
Olivia Wilde wore one of the smokiest eyes of the night but it totally worked with her metallic Calvin Klein dress. Her eyeshadow is an earthy sand color, brought out into a sharp cat eye. Her eyes are rimmed all the way around with black pencil and the look is topped of with a hot set of false lashes.
Didn’t Jennifer Aniston look fabulous last night!? I love her bronzed skin, and peach lips; the whole look compliments her so well! She is wearing a little bit more of a smokey eye than she usually does, and she pulls it off perfectly!
When Christina Aguilera hits the red carpet, you never know what to expect! She definitely is not shy when it comes to makeup, but her look last night was surprisingly subdued. Her makeup artist for the night was Kristofer Buckle for NARS. Her eyes were a shimmery walnut brown, smokey but still soft. Her mauve lips are lined with NARS’ Fantasia lipliner, filled in with Niagara lipstick and topped off with Easy Lover lipgloss.
Mo’Nique’s makeup was so clean and glowy last night, she definitely looked like a Golden Globe winner! Her makeup artist, Sam Fine, kept the whole look very neutral but still beautiful and fresh. She was given long wispy false lashes (#747L from Image Exclusives in LA) and a blush colored, nude lip.
Kate Winslet always looks phenomenal at these award shows! Her makeup artist Jillian Dempsey, created a super clean, flawless look for the actress. She carefully contoured Kate’s cheekbones, and used a navy eyeliner on her eyes. Kate’s flushed cheeks are Avon’s Blushing Nude and her lips are Lancome’s L’Absolu Rouge in Rich Cashmere.
Scott Barnes is the makeup artist that put Jennifer Lopez’ bronzed, glowy skin on the map, so it’s no suprise that he was responsible for Penelope Cruz’ beautiful golden glow last night! He used a burgundy eyeshadow, jet black liner and mascara, a nude lip, and of course loads of bronzer! Her body was coated in Barnes’ own product, Body Bling.
AVN Awards Red Carpet Makeup
Porn Star Makeup!
Porn stars flocked to Vegas this weekend for the biggest night night of their year, the AVN Awards. Think Academy Awards, but for the Adult Entertainment Industry! As you can imagine, brow bones were gleaming, and the lip gloss was poppin’!
Porn star, Jessica Drake wore silvery black eyeshadow, tons of fake lashes and nude glossy lips. Her look is the epitome of “porn makeup,” but I have to admit I do like it. However, I am SOOO not a fan of the visible lip liner. Big makeup no-n0.
.
Veronica Rayne went for an all black, smudgy, smokey eye. I love the nude lip color she is wearing BUT her lip liner is out of control too! Come on’ ladies, there are much better ways to plump your pucker without obviously overdrawing your lips.
Say NO to steak lips
.
Carmen McCarthy’s makeup stood out on the red carpet in a good way, and I’m totally loving the hot pink lipstick. It’s a shame that her lips matched her dress perfectly (which is why I’m only posting the headshot, in an effort to stay positive) lol! She lined her waterline with white pencil which really opens up, and brightens her eyes.
.
Not diggin’ Sasha Grey’s eye makeup, but only because I wish the opaque purpley-white mess didn’t travel all the way up to her brow bone. It could have been really pretty if she would kept the colors closer to her natural crease line.
.
Looks like Dave Navarro and Sasha Grey hired the same makeup artist lol! All I’m going to say is that he should have ixnayed the purple eyeshadow, and stuck with blacks and greys.
.
Although they do have their fair share beauty issues, I’ve always been a secret fan of porn star makeup. The 2010 AVN Awards did not disappoint this year
but I do wish Jenna Jameson had been there though! She always looks beyond fab.
A Look Back at 2009′s Red Carpet
Best Red Carpet Looks From the Past Year
Can you believe 2009 is almost over?! Well, it already is over for a lot of you… I sill have and one more hour left :) Some of the looks on the red carpet have been gorgeous and I would love to recall them one more time before next year’s award season starts! Take a look at my favorite looks from 2009.
Angelina Jolie looked radiant at this years Academy Awards. I am in love with the “whole package,” from the hair, to the earrings, to the makeup. I know the makeup looks pretty simple, but it compliments her natural beauty and her skin looks amazing! I think her makeup artist created the perfect look for her here.
.
Another natural look, but let me tell you, natural is the HARDEST look to create! Look how GORGEOUS Megan Fox looked at the Golden Globes! Glowy, perfect skin and flawless eyebrows, I really couldn’t ask for anything more
.
Kim Kardashian took a makeup risk at the Golden Globes this past year, but I think it totally worked for her! She moved away from her usual sultry, smokey eye, and went for a frosty blue/white makeup look with extreme false eyelashes. It complimented her long white gown beautifully.
.
A lot of people argue that younger girls should stay away from red lipstick because it ages them, but I disagree! Taylor Swift looked so pretty at the MTV Video Music Awards this year and her red lipstick is totally working for her! Her neutral colored dress makes that pucker pop. Love it.
.
I couldn’t get over Mila Kunis’ makeup from the 2009 Emmys. Her mauve/brown eyeshadow makes her eyes POP and looks great with her skin tone. I always think she looks great, but I really did love this look!
Jennifer Hudson looked like a rock star at this years Grammy Awards. Her silver and black smokey eye was so glamorous but still fun. You can get Jennifer’s look by following my step by step guide here.

Holiday Makeup Idea!

I LOVE Jennifer Hudson’s makeup in this picture! I think it was for the Grammy’s, but the silvery smokey eye would be perfect to add a little bit of pizazz to your holiday makeup. Whether you are going to a company party, Christmas Eve dinner, or ringing in the New Year with friends, this sexy look will set you above the rest!
What You Need:
Silver Eyeshadow or Pigment
Matte Black Eyeshadow
Matte Chocolate Brown Eyeshadow
Black Eyeliner Pencil
False Eyelashes (Medium Length)
Shimmery Mauve Lipgloss
.
How To Get The Look:
1. Start out with your foundation or tinted moisturizer. Add a drop or two of luminizing lotion to add a healthy glow to your skin. Smashbox’s Artificial Light and MAC’s Strobe Cream are great for this technique.
2. Take your silver eyeshadow and begin to apply it to the inner half of your eye. Look at the diagram below, the red dotted line shows where you should carry the silver to. I like to use a firm flat brush to “pack” the color on. It will show up more vibrant this way. Do not go past your crease with the eyeshadow.
3. Add a little touch of the silver to the inner corner of your eyes (near the tear ducts!) It brightens your eyes and looks amazing.
4. Now, take a matte black eyeshadow and apply to the outer half of your eye, picking up where the silver leaves off. Extend the shadow out a little past your eye and blend well into the silver with a clean blending brush.
5. Once your silver and black shadows have been blended, take a matte chocolate brown eyeshadow on a clean brush and lightly contour your crease. Use the windshield wiper motion, back and forth. On the diagram, the yellow line shows where to apply the brown. Up until this point, you shouldn’t have gone past your natural crease with the other shadows, so now is the time to give it a little definition and to make your eyes pop.
6. Take your black eyeliner (pencil, gel, liquid, it’s up to you!) and line the upper eyelid, don’t worry about getting it too perfect because you’ll be adding lashes on top of it.
7. Now it’s time for the falsies! Apply these to your eye, and wait for them to dry completely before moving on.
8. Once the eyelash glue has dried, go BACK over the strip with your black eyeliner. This will help to hide fake eyelash band, and will define your eyes even more. Also apply two to three coats of black mascara to plump them up a bit.
9. Next, line your lower lash line with the same black eyeliner and smudge softly with a q-tip, just so the line doesn’t look too harsh. Don’t forget to line your waterline too! Jennifer’s lower eyeliner is not dramatic or too smokey, so just a little definition will do.
10. Sweep a plum or berry colored blush on your cheekbones.
11. Apply a shimmery mauve lipgloss like Jennifer’s, or make the look your own by wearing your favorite lip color! Nudes, burgundy’s and berry’s would all look stunning with this silver, smokey eye!

Nicole Kidman’s Makeup Disaster EXPLAINED
I Would NOT Want to Be Her Makeup Artist Today…

Everyone has been buzzing about Nicole Kidman’s makeup malfunction last night at the New York Premiere of her new movie, “Nine.” The story even made the front page of Yahoo News! Ok, come on…. Really?? People keep slamming Nicole and her team for not looking in the mirror before hitting the carpet but do you really believe that NOBODY noticed two pounds of powder masking her face before she stepped out her limo. I don’t think so…
While I do not know exactly what happened, this ismy best theory on the “disaster.”
Nicole’s makeup artist probably used a product with large amounts of mica. Mica is highly reflective when subjected to flash photography, and creates the “ghost face” effect we see on Nicole. Chances are her makeup artist used a mineral powder, since the main ingredient in mineral makeup is, you guessed it, MICA.
Based on the placement of the whiteness, I’m guessing the culprit is probably the powder her makeup artist used to set the foundation. Especially since the majority of the white is under her eyes, and eyes tend to crease the most.
I’m pretty sure it’s not ACTUAL powder because:
a) An A-list celebrity like Nicole has SO many people around them at all times, and there is no chance that not a single person saw the mistake.
b) The severity of the whiteness is different in each picture, depending on the angle.
c) There are other pictures from the event showing Nicole’s face powder free.

One pictures shows the malfuction, while the other displays Nicole powder free!!
I feel soooo bad for her makeup artist!! I can’t even imagine having to do damage control for this mistake.
American Music Award’s Makeup
Smokey Eyes and Nude Lips

Nude was definitely the color of the night last night at the 2009 American Music Awards! The red carpet was all about the eyes while lips and cheeks were kept surprisingly natural. I don’t know if I saw one red lip!! Fergie’s look was my favorite, she looked very pretty and polished.

Even Adam Lambert opted for the smokey eye/nude lips combo and don’t even try to tell me that homeboy doesn’t have lip color on!

Emmys 2009 – The Best Makeup of the Night

Mila Kunis
I LOVE Mila Kunis and her makeup last night was gorgeous! It really suited her face and made her look even more amazing than she normally does. I’m usually not into matching your eye makeup with your outfit, but it totally works for this look! I also love that she has some color on her eyes, and didn’t do the grey smoky eye like everyone else.
Mila’s makeup artist is Tracey Levy.

Jennifer Love Hewitt
I haven’t seen J-Love in a really long time and I have to say she looked amazing last night. She seems very happy with her new boyfriend, Jaime Kennedy, and being in love makes her glow even more! She opted for the bronze smokey eye which I think is a great choice for the baby yellow dress. The little bit of gold shimmery shadow on the inner corner of her eyes makes her eyes pop.

Hayden Panettiere
I’m actually watching TV right now and they are ripping Hayden’s look to shreds. I really don’t get it, nor do I agree at all. They said she looks like a 40 year old woman. Um hello!? I hope I look this good when I turn 40. Anyways, I think she looks fabulous; definitely more mature, considering she’s only 20 years old, but still fabulous. Also, its the EMMYS! She doesn’t walk around like this everyday people!
I love the red lips and feathery lashes. Her skin looks glowy and healthy, and her eyebrows are perfect.

Kim Kardashian
Kim always looks amazing, she could wear green lipstick and I bet you it would look beautiful on that face haha! Her skin is always flawless, perfectly contoured, and she definitely loves her blush. She went with a blue eye last night, which was definitely a change from her signature smokey look, but she pulled it off without a hitch. It looked so pretty and sparkly with her white dress.
Kim’s makeup artist is Mario Dedivanovic
Olivia Wilde
Olivia Wilde looked beautiful last night! Her Marchesa dress was GORGEOUS and I loved the gunmetal smokey eye with the light gown. No wonder she was crowned #1 in Maxims Hot 100 poll this year.
Gorgeous Smokey Eyes at the VMAs
Red Carpet Makeup
The MTV Video Music Awards were so good this year! So much drama! From Kanye stealing Taylor Swift’s moment to Lady Gaga’s outfits (omg I LOVE her!!), to Katy Perry’s smokey eye. It seems like the dramatic eye was the look of choice for many of the VMA celebrities. Below are some of my favorite looks of the night.

Katy Perry was my all time favorite look at the VMAs! She looks flawless! Her skin is perfect, the lip color is gorgeous and the gunmetal grey cat eye was to die for. Covergirl makeup artist, Jake Bailey is responsible for this look.

LOVE GAGA. Enough Said.

No Smokey Eyes But….

Doesn’t Taylor Swift’s makeup look insane! So pretty. The lips are incredible and the liquid liner makes her look like an old Hollywood movie star.
