Sao Paulo and Berlin Fashion Week A/W 2010
The Good, The Bad and The Bizarre

Patrick Mohr A/W 2010 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin
Ok, is anybody else wondering what the hell is going on here?? lol! The models/body builders walking in the Patrick Mohr show were wearing plastic bags, really bad wigs and lots of triangles. I don’t get it and I’m not sure if I want to.

Stine Goya A/W 2010 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin
The makeup for the Stine Goya show in Berlin was really pretty and clean for the most part. However, the lips are reminiscent of the “I’ve been trapped in the Mohave desert for 10 days without water,” look. It looks like gold glitter over reddish brown lipstick (same technique as the Giulia Borges show in Rio here). I feel that these lips would look amazing in an editorial but not on the runway.

Alexandre Herchcovitch A/W 2010 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Sao Paulo
Alexandre Herchovitch’s models wore skull makeup during his showing in Sao Paulo. This type of makeup is definitely not something you see everyday, especially in Menswear, but at least it’s interesting.
I like it. It goes well with the clothes and the theme of the show.

A Few Interesting Pieces…

Hausach Couture 2010 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin
The makeup for the Hausach Couture line was nothing to write home about, but I wanted to show you some of the interesting dresses that walked the runway! They are pretty odd, but I’m kind of loving it. Especially the headpiece.
New Prada Ad
Rockin’ the Orange, Glossy Lips
While the the fashion world is currently working on Autumn/Winter 2010, the Spring/Summer Prada ads, shot by the incrediblele Steven Meisel, have officially been released! Look at those lips!!! Neon orange and glossy, just the way I like it. I must say, I did have an “oh my god” moment when first viewing these.
The models wore Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics’ amazing lip tar in “Safety Orange” during their Spring/Summer 2010 runway show in Milan. Chances are, the same product was used by legendary makeup artist, Pat McGrath, to create these ads, and lucky for me, it’s already in my kit
.
**UPDATE:
Nylon Magazine has discovered exactly what has been used on the model’s lips for these ads! To get the look, mix Makeup For Ever’s lacquered lipstick in 204, with a gloss on top mixed with CoverGirl’s Shineblast in orange.

Spring/Summer 2010 Milan Fashion Week. I love that the ads are so similar to the look created for the runway!
Rio De Janeiro Fashion Week F/W 2010
“Fashion Rio” – Fall/Winter Makeup ’10
One of my favorite makeup looks from Rio’s fashion week is worn by Giulia Borges‘ models. The contrast between stark white skin and their metallic red lips is gorgeous. Most of Giulia’s collection was black and white, making the bright lips totally pop. While the lips look as if they are filled in with metallic color, look close enough and you’ll see that it’s actually a deep red lipstick with red glitter layered over it!
.
The models walking in the Lucas Nascimento show wore smoky cordovan colored eyeshadow that is heavily contoured in the inner corners of their eyes. The eyes are rimmed with black, and the lips are non-existent. Last season, bleached eyebrows were seen at just about every show; looks like that trend is still alive and kickin’!
More heavy contouring at Victor Dzenk show! This time, the model’s temples and cheekbones are being strongly shaded in. The eyes are semi-smokey with long, dramatic fake lashes, and the inner rims of the eyes are lined with bright white pencil. Not a big fan of the thick white braid wrapped around their heads, but the rest of the look is very unique. I give it two thumbs up!
.
One of the more interesting looks of the week, Auslander’s models wore bright white painted faces! The white starts completely opaque at the forehead and starts to fade out as it reaches the chin. Many of the models wore a black netted headpiece over their faces.
.
I’m suprised how unique and creative the makeup has been during Rio’s Fashion Week! I love when artists are allowed to step outside of the box.
Trend Alert: Tribal Designs!
Tribal is Taking Over!!.
It started during New York Fashion week, when Rodarte’s models dawned tribal style body paint on their arms as they walked the runway. Each model’s designs were unique and it looked great with the slicked hair and green lights. Last month in Italian Vogue, photographer David Sim’s published an amazing editorial spread focused on designer clothing and tribal art. Inspired by both looks, I actually did a photoshoot of my own centered around this tribal art. It’s actually much harder to do than it looks! The lines needed to be clean and I only had several hours to do two models. It was really fun though!
Most recently, Shakira put out a new video where she and her dancers are sportting the tribal trend! They only wear the art on one arm but this is a great example to show how much fashion influences all aspects of the media. It started on the runway, traveled to editorial and ended up in the mainstream music scene. So cool!

Get the Look: Victoria Secret Angeles
Look Like a Victoria Secret Model!
The Victoria Secret Angels strutted their stuff on the runway yesterday at the annual Victoria Secret Fashion Show in New York City. As usual, the ladies looked flawless, fresh and gorgeous. While I do not know exactly what was used on the models, the look is very easy to recreate, and chances are you already have the products necessary to give Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio and Selita Ebanks a run for their money!
What You’ll Need:
Light/Medium Coverage Foundation
Pink Shimmery Highlight
Pink Shimmery Blush
Off-White Pearly Eyeshadow
Soft Brown of Grey Eyeshadow
Individual Eyelashes
Eyelash Curler
Volumizing Mascara
Light Pink/Raspberry Lipgloss
Get The Victoria Secret Angel Look:
1. Start out with clean, moisturized skin. This look is very fresh, so prepping your skin is essential to make the make the makeup glide on smoothly.
2. Apply a light to medium coverage foundation to the center of your face and blend outward with a duo fiber brush (think MAC 187 brush). To achieve that little bit of dewiness, mix a liquid highlight into your foundation before applying. If you can find Revlon Skinlights, they work amazing to give your skin a touch of radiance.
3. Apply a pink shimmer to your cheekbones, forehead and the center of your nose. Smashbox’s Softlights or MAC’s Mineralized Skinfinishes work perfectly.
4. Dust a shimmery pink blush to the apples of your cheeks.
5. The eyes are smokey but still very subdued. Take a semi pearly off-white eyeshadow (Try CoverGirl’s Champagne eyeshadow) and apply to your whole eyelid. Apply a soft brown or grey shadow and accentuate your crease to give definition. Blend well.
6. Take a small, tapered eyeshadow brush and apply the same pearly off-white shadow to the lower lash line, focusing more on the inner corners of your eyes. This opens up the eye area and makes your eyes appear larger and brighter.
7. With a grey or brown eyeliner, lightly line the top and bottom eyelid I prefer to use an eyeshadow with an eyeliner brush for looks like this. It gives off a softer effect. We don’t want harsh lines! If you do use a pencil, soften the line with a q-tip.

8. Apply several individual false lashes along your lashline to give you that extra bit of oomph. Long, fluttery eyelashes can give off the perfect Victoria Secret “come hither” look.
9. Curl your lashes and apply several coats of black, volumizing mascara.
10. Top it all off with a light pink gloss on your lips! Try NARS lipgloss in “Frisky Summer” or Lancome’s Juicy Tube in “Miracle”

Alexander McQueen at Paris Fashion Week

The Makeup, The Hair, The Shoes!
Last night in Paris, Alexander McQueen debuted his Spring/Summer 2010 collection. He showed a live broadcast of the show on his website and it was amazing! The models were made to look like reptiles, aquatic creatures and aliens as the show progressed in an almost evolutionary way. The clothes were incredible, the makeup was amazing, the hair was breath taking and the shoes were out of this world!!

The makeup started out very natural and moved into the extreme by the end of the show. Makeup artists even added prosthetic pieces on the models to give them that un-worldly, creature-like feel. The eyebrows were bleached (very popular this season) to make them look invisible, and the models faces were painted with a shimmery, almost metallic-like foundation.
The hair at this show was insane! It ranged from intricate woven braids to enormous wings at the back of the head.

Don’t even get me started on the shoes!!
I can’t believe not one model fell over in these 10 inch high platforms. They pretty much stole the show. I’ve never seen anything like it, and while I wouldn’t wear them out, I think that they are incredibly unique and kind of amazing.

The whole show was executed flawlessly and truly was a work of art.
Autumn/Winter ’09/10 Trend: Sharp Lips
Jean Paul Gaultier A/W 09/10
Trend Report: Sharp, Precision Lined Lips
Precise, crimson lips were all over the A/W 09/10 runways this season. The flawlessness and exactness of the perfect lines is outstanding and impressive. Rocking your version of sharp lips this winter is surefire way to give yourself an instant confidence booster! There’s something about this look that just screams “self-assured.”

To get the look, you need a sharp, lipliner pencil and a hot, dark red lipstick. Carefully outline your pout, and fill in the rest of your lips with your liner pencil. Since any red lip can be difficult to master, I recommend applying your lipstick with a lip-brush. It gives you more control and lets you get super exact, which you definitely need for this dramatic look. The sharpness and extremity is up to you; you might even need to exaggerate the points a little, depending on the natural shape of your lip.
I Recommend:
Lipliners- Chanel makes an amazing liner called Precision Lip Definer. For my ladies on a budget, Wet and Wild makes great ones too (for like 99cents a pop!). The only downside: their selection of reds is a little sketch.
Lipsticks- Nars makes fabulous red lipsticks. Try “Fire Down Below” for this look.
Have fun with it! It’s only makeup
